PSALM 139:17-18 — "How precious it is, Lord"

“How precious it is, Lord” – PSALM 139:17-18

How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn towards me. And when I wake in the morning, you are still thinking of me! PSALM 139:17-18

When you open your eyes to a new day, take a serious look at the events ahead of you. You can predict the difficulties that will be there. Some things are going to make you irritable, domineering, absorbed completely in your own desires, too busy to listen; but now, in this moment, take a good look, a long look at all these barriers and make up your mind to make them better.

Look beyond yourself, even beyond your own struggles and the good you might perform in the lives of others. What needs does your husband or wife have? How can you help make this a better day for the children, the special friend who is having a difficult time, the person who took the time to send you a note that you hardly noticed?

Now, at this time, you can stop and think of his finer traits, the unselfish life he has shared with you. Perhaps there is a hunger of his that you must help fill. It is good that you have had this quiet time to think about the goodness of all people.
