Today, February 23, 2022, the hip hop legend has joined his ancestors after hanging himself in his home.
This was after the rapper posted chilling messages on his socials which many believed could be suicidal.

“I’ll return a stronger man, this land is still my home,” his 3am message read on his microblogging site.
Reports of his death flew in as rumors in the early hours of today. Much of the rumours turned believable later in the day when one of his close allies in the music industry, Maphorisa tweeted with broken heart emojis.
“No no no no no no no no no ???????????????????… Why ???????,” tweeted Maphorisa.
This automatically made tweeps believe that someone could have died, and this someone is Riky Rick according to some close sources.
His death has been confirmed by EFF president Julius Malema and one seasoned journalist, Daniel Kenosi on his Facebook page.
Riky Rick Cause of Death
Not much is known about the cause of his death as of yet. His family has not spoken of his death either, served from hints being dropped by some of Mzansi celebs on their socials, including Malema and Robert Marawa.
But Riky Rick was a haunted man, his close allies once revealed.
The Cotton Fest founder and manager was slowly losing his game and relevance in the music industry.
This, coupled by social media attacks on him and his wife lately, could be a reason enough to support unfounded claims that he committed suicide by hanging himself.
Social media came after him for allegedly abusing his wife with whom he always posted videos looking unhappy.
Reports reaching the ZambianFace desk claim that he was found hanging in his home.
Riky Rick’s Career
What masses do not know is how far reaching Riky Rick’s career is. It is as old as Hip Hop and Kwaito are in South Africa.
He started his career at an early age, working with the likes of Brenda Fassie.
He rose to fame when he released his single “Nafukwa” in 2014. Makhado released his debut studio album Family Values (2015), which became certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
He would later jump on the South African contemporary hip hop sounds before releasing his all-time hit song Amantombazane.
He later started his own label, Cotton Club. This is the club responsible for the launch and success of Cotton Fest, an MTV sponsored festive that has been running for years.
Riky Rick Family
Riky exposed himself as a family man on social media.
One would then wonder why and how he would allegedly take his life in his home where his family was.
In early 2010, Makhado met Bianca Naidoo in Sandton, and the two had a child, Jordan. In 2013, the couple got married and welcomed their second child, Maik Daniel in 2014. Makhado practised sobriety after a torrid time with alcohol and drug addiction in his youth.
He is survived by his wife Bianca Naidoo and his kids, Jordan Makhado and Malik Daniel Makhado.
On 23 February 2022, Makhado died by suicide at the age of 34.
